It seems like the Boston Fire Zouaves and the Boston Tiger Fire Zouaves may have dressed in similarly stylish uniforms--and the subject of this portrait wore his ensemble with real confidence! The uniform worn by the subject (whoever he is) appears to be a spot on match for the uniform of Co. I, 30th Massachusetts Infantry (Boston Fire Zouaves)...note the similar company name. The piping on the cuffs is very unique, and matches several other members of that company. The particular pattern is so unique I have to wonder if the man is a different relative in the 30th Mass.
